The Oscars is considered to be one of fashion’s biggest nights but the most?talked about?trend on the red carpet was about what wasn’t?being talked about – fashion – or more specifically, asking an?actress, “who are you wearing?” The?#AskHerMore campaign, which launched a year ago, challenges journalists and television hosts to talk to actresses about the substance of their work rather than?just their wardrobe.?The campaign gained momentum in the days leading up to the Oscars with actresses like Reese Witherspoon, Lena Dunham and Amy Poehler voicing their support on social media.
While I completely agree that the conversation on the red carpet should not start and end with fashion, it should still be a part of the dialogue because an entire industry is supported by celebrities and what they wear to award shows. Designers spend months and countless hours making those beautiful?dresses and having an actress talk about it on a global stage such as the Oscars can change the trajectory of a designer’s business. It should also be noted that actresses in turn have seen their stars rise based on their red carpet style. While talking about fashion might seem frivolous and “silly” to some, I still think it serves an important purpose on the red carpet. So without further ado, here are a few of my favorite looks from last night.
Julianne Moore in custom Chanel
Margot Robbie in Saint Laurent
Rosamund Pike in Givenchy

It takes more than talent to make it on Hollywood’s red carpet.
